Children’s
Studio School is celebrating its Thirtieth
Anniversary.

In
2002, Studio School was unanimously approved for
full accreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
Validation Team. Only two other public elementary schools
in the city have received accreditation.
Children’s Studio
School is excited to announce its
partnership with the American Place Theatre (APT) of New York, known for its commitment to
unconventional, daring plays. APT
will present its nationally acclaimed performance-based literacy program, Literature to Life™, in conjunction with
its professional development collaborations with and performances at
Children’s Studio
School. The partnership will include:
- Collaborative
professional development workshops drawing from The American Place
Theatre’s Literature to Life and
Children’s Studio School’s Arts
As Education© processes
- Literature to Life sessions for Studio School
children in relation to individual home studio curricula
- Literature to Life In-School workshops for high school students,
eg. Cardozo High School
- Collaboration
with Children’s Studio
School and DCPS
(eg. Studio
School’s mentorship with Martin Luther King
Elementary School),
museums and other arts organizations
- Proposed
school renovation to create the Studio School’s
Urban Arts Complex
performance space within the school, which Literature to Life will use for performances for student
groups and other community audiences.
